Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

SDCC Plans - Need your input!

Holy SHMOW.
SDCC is right around the freaking corner. And I still have SO much to do!

~robtw007 and I are still sorting out our schedule, but its mainly Batman and Video game based, so if you want to meet up or anything, those panels are where we'll most likely be!

If any of you seagulls are watching me, I'll be going to the meetup Wednesday night, can't wait to meet all you weirdos.

I'm also in a right pickle about my cosplay for Friday. Up until the schedule came out, I had been planning on wearing Moxxi all day Friday. BUT. A look at the schedule shows that the Naughty Dog team is having an Uncharted 3 panel Friday at 4.

Robert is planning on being Drake Friday anyway, buuuut now I don't know what to do with Moxxi! I really don't want to push her to Thursday, and Sunday is our comfy, easy to get out of cosplay day. (Drake and Chloe) But OH MAN. Chloe NEEDS to be at that panel! I just bet there will be tons of other Uncharted cosplayers, and I want pictures with them! (And maybe the Naughty Dog crew?? *wishful thinking*) So I'm thinking I may just wear Moxxi until about 3, then go back to the room and change into Chloe for the remainder of the day. But I feel like thats cheating Moxxi of her time at SDCC.

Then again, my feet will probably be 100% done with Moxxi's shoes by 3 anyway, if I can recall the pain of the Mad Love heels last year, and the Moxxi shoes at A-kon. Those things are seriously a pain. Mainly because I have wide feet, and those shoes are definitely narrower than normal shoes.
What do you guys think?

would like me to. I want to bring the Bazooka to the protest but that thing is so heavy and unwieldy, plus I'll be carrying a sign... I dare not take it in the actual con, for fear of hitting someone with the damn thing. I may not bring it at all.

I really should get back to work now.
I've still got to remake the DCUO Cowl, Moxxi's Holster, finish carving and painting the Phurba for Chloe/drake, fashion a collar for classic Harley, take in my classic suit for a better fit, mend the classic shoes enough to last me a day at SDCC, make various last minute changes/fixes to Moxxi, find Robert a decent future-y looking gun for DCUO Joker, repaint chloe's gun...

why not start out with moxxi on friday, change into chloe for the panel, and then when you're done with chloe for that you can decide if your feetsies can handle moxxi for the evening? changing into chloe might be the a good/long enough break so you'll end up wearing moxxi longer into the night than you would have otherwise?
